Biblical hope leaves room for waiting. It is not the same as predicting a quick improvement or denying the difficulty of a season. These passages turn our attention toward God while the future remains open.
Romans 15:13: Hope shared in community
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Paul offers this blessing in a passage about people from different backgrounds welcoming one another. Hope is connected with joy, peace, faith, and the work of the Holy Ghost, the KJV wording for the Holy Spirit.
Consider praying the verse for someone else as well as for yourself. Hope can be strengthened in a community that makes room for one another.
Lamentations 3:22–23: Mercy in a sorrowful book
It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
These words appear inside a book of grief. Their setting matters: the speaker recalls God’s compassion without erasing loss. Morning mercy and deep sorrow are not treated as mutually exclusive.
A new day does not require you to have solved yesterday. You can receive today as a place to notice one sign of care and take one necessary step.
Practicing hope without pretending
Write down one uncertainty and one truth from the passage you are reading. Hold them together in prayer. Hope can remain honest about what you do not know.

God of hope, help me look toward you without hiding my questions. Renew my attention to your mercy, and teach me to encourage someone who is waiting too. Amen.
